On average, it takes about 10 to 12 treatments to remove a tattoo. Tattoos closer to the heart have better blood circulation and usually remove easier than tattoos on extremities. In cases where a heavy hand places the tattoo, scar tissue is common. When this happens, we have to use more than one laser to remove the tattoo. One laser removes the ink, and another laser lessons the scar tissue. Lymphatic system health heavily impact tattoo removal results. Working out, eating a healthy diet, and drinking water may speed up your tattoo removal results, while smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, and not keeping the area protected from the Sun can slow down tattoo removal results. Older tattoos tend to come out faster than newer tattoos and a tattoo must be a minimum of six weeks old to begin the removal process. We can safely treat a tattoo once every six to eight weeks, but if you are patient and can wait a little longer, you will need less treatments overall. A tattoo will fade for a good twelve weeks after just one treatment. Touched up tattoos and covered up tattoos have more ink saturation and will need an additional treatment or two.
